El Viento (the wind)
This project, which began as a means for monitoring wind velocity oscillations and perturbations at the AUT University Radio Telescope Site in New Zealand, has broadened to include the mapping of air movement in the Maule Region of Chile.

Forecasting wind gusts is a principal aspect of the research but determining time durations for constant wind velocity and variations in wind patterns when correlated with atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity and other variables is integral to the work. Wind turbine placement determination is one practical potential outcome of this research, which is being funded and supported as a new science and technology initiative by the Universidad Catolica del Maule in the first instance.
